When is the FCLE given in 2026-27?
Florida public schools give the FCLE in two state testing windows in 2026-27: November 2 to December 18, 2026, and March 29 to May 28, 2027. Each district sets its own test days inside those windows. College students take it through their college's testing center on the college's schedule.
The 2026-27 windows
| Window | Dates |
|---|---|
| Fall 2026 | November 2 to December 18, 2026 |
| Spring 2027 | March 29 to May 28, 2027 |
These are the state windows in the Florida Department of Education's 2026-27 Statewide Assessment Schedule (dated May 26, 2026). Districts choose their administration dates inside each window, so ask your school for the exact days. For comparison, the 2025-26 windows were November 3 to December 19, 2025, and March 30 to May 29, 2026.
Attempts and retakes
Students have two attempts in each window and must wait 30 calendar days between attempts, so a first attempt early in the window leaves room for a retake inside the same window. Details are on the retake page.
Who takes it in high school
The state fact sheet says all students enrolled in and completing one of these courses must participate (the requirement has applied since the 2021-22 school year under section 1003.4282(3)(d), Florida Statutes):
| Course number | Course |
|---|---|
| 2106310 | United States Government |
| 2106320 | United States Government Honors |
| 2106410 | Humane Letters 1 History |
| 2106415 | Humane Letters 1 History Honors |
| 2106460 | American Political Systems Honors |
| 2106800 | Florida's Pre-International Baccalaureate United States Government |
| 2106420 | Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics |
| 2106325 | CLEP American Government |
| POSX041 | American Government 1 (dual enrollment) |
| AMHX010 | Introductory Survey to 1877 (dual enrollment) |
| AMHX020 | Introductory Survey Since 1877 (dual enrollment) |
The FAQ adds that there is no alternate version of the test, so students in the Access United States Government course (7921015) are not required to participate. The fact sheet says students not enrolled in one of the listed courses who want to take the exam to satisfy the postsecondary requirement are eligible to participate, and that the FCLE is administered in grades 6 to 12 and at postsecondary institutions.
College students
Florida College System and State University System institutions give the FCLE through their testing centers on their own schedules. From college testing-center pages, not the state documents; rules differ by college and change.
Note: the state's K-12 FAQ was last revised in July 2025 and still prints the 2025-26 dates; the 2026-27 dates above come from the statewide schedule, which is the later document.
