What is the passing score on the Texas U.S. History EOC?
Approaches Grade Level is the passing standard for graduation. The state converts raw points to a scale score; Approaches is 3550 on the scale, Meets Grade Level 4000 and Masters Grade Level 4424. On the spring 2025 form those cut points were 23, 37 and 51 of 78 raw points.
The four performance levels
The agency reports one of four performance levels: Did Not Meet Grade Level, Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade Level and Masters Grade Level. The test administrator manual says passing the five end-of-course assessments satisfies the state testing requirement for high school graduation; Approaches Grade Level is the passing standard.
Scale scores and raw points
Each form is scored in raw points (78 on the current design), and the agency publishes a conversion table from raw points to scale scores after every administration. The scale cut points stay the same; the raw points needed move a little as the forms change.
| Level | Scale score | Raw points, spring 2025 form | Percentile of testers, spring 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approaches Grade Level (passing) | 3550 | 23 of 78 | 7th |
| Meets Grade Level | 4000 | 37 of 78 | 34th |
| Masters Grade Level | 4424 | 51 of 78 | 65th |
Those raw equivalents come from the agency's spring 2025 conversion table. Treat them as a guide, not a promise: a form can be a few points harder, and a Meets score is what shows you know the course. The practice forms on this site use the same 78-point structure and report the same levels, labelled as the spring 2025 equivalents.
What the score report shows
The current blueprint groups the questions into four reporting categories, so the report shows how you did in each: History; Geography and Culture; Government and Citizenship; and Economics, Science, Technology, and Society. The agency's draft design for spring 2028 says subscores will no longer be reported for the strands; see what changes in 2027-28.
