Readiness and supporting standards
The blueprint says readiness standards make up about 55 to 70 percent of the points and supporting standards about 30 to 45 percent. The agency's assessed-curriculum document (revised August 2024) tags each eligible student expectation; 97 expectations are eligible and 43 are readiness standards. The course standards themselves are in 19 TAC 113.41, United States History Studies Since 1877, which covers 1877 to the present: industrialization and urbanization, the major wars, domestic and foreign policy, and reform movements including civil rights, plus geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, and science and technology.
The skills strands
The social studies skills in the standards (reading sources, sequencing, cause and effect, maps and charts) are not a separate category. They are tested inside the content questions, which is why so many questions begin with a quotation, a map description or a table.
Each category has a free study mode and an eight-question quick check on this site.
